Introducing:

Mark Kelly

  • Age: 21
  • Instrument: Guitar
  • Tell us about Frantic Jack: Ambitious 5 piece band from Edenderry who love playing some tunes.
  • How long have you been with the band: Hmmmm good question I wasn’t really keeping count, it must be around 6 months, which I suppose is a relatively short time in band terms. So hopefully come six months time we will be a step up again from what we are now.
  • What was your favourite gig so far: It would have to be the Whelan’s gig. It was my first gig with the band and I thought it was a damn good show. Had a lot of fun playing that night and a nice few drinks after. I can’t wait for the next one already.
  • What are your ambitions for the “Independence” album release: I hope all our hard work pays off and people enjoy the new music. There are a lot of different styles on this album. Something for everyone.
  • Where are you looking forward to playing (town/city) during the Irish Tour: Tramore the tropical paradise that it is. Should be fun. Bring your bucket and spade.
  • Tell us about the Recording of the new album “Independence”: Recording it in Jam Studios. It has been a lot of fun to record and I never get tired of beating the boys at Fifa either.
  • Describe the first year of the band, the highs and lows: It has been a great year overall. Playing before the Saw Doctors was one of the highs anyway. We had a break for two months, so there were no gigs so that was the low point for me.
  • What’s your favourite track from what you’ve released or what is coming on the album: Fallin Heroes would be my favourite song. I think it turned out really well recorded.
  • Describe your style as a guitarist: I try to incorporate a lot of melody into my playing as I can, I think my style would be somewhere between the lines of pop rock and blues.
  • Tell us about some of your influences: Metallica were the band that got me playing guitar, then I got more into players like David Gilmour, Mark Tremonti and Gary Moore.
  • The number one rule for an original band trying to breakthrough: Work hard and hope for a break!! Still hoping.
  • What are your long term ambitions for the band: I’d love to see things keep improving like they are now and to get to play at oxygen would be a great experience.
