Introducing:
Mick Holton

Recently we sat down with the members of Frantic Jack to get to know their thoughts on the band and whats ahead. This week we look at Drummer extraordinaire Mick Holton ....enjoy
Age: 21
Instrument: Drums
How long have you been with the band: I Started jamming with the lads at christmas and really enjoyed playing with them and here i am now. So about three/four months now?!!
What was your favourite gig so far: The edenderry harbour festival was definately my favourite gig so far. Pretty cool playing on a boat felt like one of the dudes from lonely Island!!
Where are you looking forward to playing (town/city) during the Irish Tour: Looking forward to playing in Ennis have loads of relatives round the banner county!!
Tell us about the Recording of the new album “Independence”: Loved recording the album was great fun. I'd never been recorded in studio before so i was a bit nervous but once i got into the swing of things i really enjoyed it
Do you ever wonder what happened to the drummers before you and fear for your safety: Ha! no i dont worry about other people! I know myself that if i put the work in i will be ok!!
What’s your favourite track from what you’ve released or what is coming on the album : My Favourite track on the album with out a doubt is Rallyin cry
Tell us a bit about your drumming style and background: I started drumming in a punk band playing the likes of Greenday and that kinda thing. Then I was in about twelve other bands playing anything from death metal like Slipknot to blues like Rory Gallagher so i would like to thing i have picked up bits and pieces as i went along.
Tell us about some of your influences: I have a very mixed taste in music. I love Metallica, Nirvanna, Queens of the stone age, The Prodigy, The Doors, Tool,Korn,Slipknot then hip hop like Cypress Hill, Dr. Dre, House o pain then dance like Tiesto, Marco v and just anything with a good beat. As far as Drummers go I really love listening to Tony Royster JR's drum solo's he is insane!!
The number one rule for an original band trying to breakthrough: Take gigs wherever you can and market yourselves well.
What are your long term ambitions for the band: I'm happy either way even just recording an album is an achievement in itself to me but would love to play oxygen at some point, its the Mecca to all Irish bands!!
