Biography

With their anthemic blend of Acoustic Rock, Frantic Jack are one the most exciting bands to come out of Ireland in recent years. With influences ranging from Matchbox20 to Dave Matthews Band, they have seamlessly molded their own unique sound and captured the attention of audiences across the country.

Frantic Jack consists of 5 musicians native to the Offaly/Kildare. Daragh Fitzgerald on vocals and guitar, Mark Kelly on lead guitar, Pauric Hurst on bass, James Kearney on keys and percussion and Mick Holton on drums.

The band’s debut album "Independence" received rave reviews from Hot Press amongst others and was tipped as one of the best Irish records of 2010. The album boasts two Top 20 singles in "Firefly" (which was also 2fm's single of the week) and "Free" as well as the bands first Top 10 single "Hold On"

To date Frantic Jack have played in some of the country’s biggest venues, and following performances in the Olympia Theatre, The RDS, Whelan’s and The Village their live shows have become known for being highly energetic, extremely tight and very entertaining. Along the way they have performed on the same card as the The Saw Doctors, Imelda May, Aslan and The Undertones and many more.

After a huge 6 week, 25 date Irish Tour in support of their debut album "Independence" during the summer of 2010, the band have now begun work on their follow up highly anticipated second album due for release during Autumn 2011. The album will be a more defined sound of the band and one which they hope to tour extensively at home and abroad.

Meet Daragh

Name: Daragh Fitzgerald

Age: 22

Hometown: Edenderry

Instruments: Singer and Guitar

Daragh started his musical career alongside Pauric in a funk/indie group called Japan 4 back in 2007. The band became well known for their entertaining and lively shows locally and provided invaluable experience to what would become 2 members of Frantic Jack.

Daragh only began singing when the early cover group were looking for someone to front the band and by process of elimination he was chosen. He soon got to grips with the mic and guitar and now currently fronts Frantic Jack as the bands rise continues.

Comparisons in style to Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam), Adam Duritz (Counting Crows) and Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20) give an idea of Daragh's vocal styling on the band. The bands overall sound is one of energy and power and this is epitomised in the vocal department

"We like to put all our energy into performing live. At the end of the day it's what defines a band and our live shows are for the most part very energetic and hopefully entertaining!"

Meet Pauric
Name: Pauric Hurst

Age: 23

Hometown: Edenderry

Instruments: Bass

Also a native of Edenderry Pauric has establised himself as one of the leading bassists around. Also a member of early bands such as Japan IV and The Typhoons Pauric's influence is one of the bands leading traits.

With influence pulled from Victor Wooten to Bootsey Collins the his riffs and writing has the band travelling noticeably on the rhythm section of great Bass hooks and solid drum beats.

Recognised as the "quiet one" Pauric is an all round musician and as is the case with many great artists allows his musical ability to take centre stage with no need for amateur dramatics.

Touted as one of the countries best up and coming bassists tracks from the debut album "Independence" such as Writing On The Wall truly showcase his talents

Although a lot of his styles are featured on Independence, live is really the only way to see Pauric at his best.
